LOS ANGELES – The former treasurer of Emerson Middle Schools booster club who allegedly embezzled $65,000 is scheduled to be arraigned today on one felony count of grand theft, the District Attorney’s office announced.

James Harold Marzullo, 44 (dob 3-31-64), was charged Wednesday in case SA068278 with allegedly stealing the funds between June 1, 2007 and April 1, 2008. He was arrested June 17 and released on $40,000 bail.

School officials said Marzullo became treasurer of the school’s nonprofit club in February 2006. Officials in March found the money was gone after Marzullo allegedly stopped attending meetings and answering emails.

Arraignment is scheduled for today at LAX Superior Court, Dept. 144.
